Sandburg Men’s Golfer Hopping Co-Medalist at Lake Bracken

Cole Hopping (Vermont, Ill./VIT) was co-medalist and the Carl Sandburg College men’s golf team took third in an Arrowhead Conference meet hosted by the Chargers on Thursday at Lake Bracken Country Club.
Hopping shared medalist honors with Black Hawk’s Ethan Earl after shooting a 3-over-par 74. Hopping birdied the first and 10th holes and parred the course’s final six holes.
Grant Campbell (Earlville, Ill./Earlville) added another top-10 finish for Sandburg, shooting 81 to tie for 10th overall. Calvin Peterson (Williamsfield, Ill./Williamsfield) and Trace White (Mount Pleasant, Iowa/Mount Pleasant) each shot 84 to account for the Chargers’ other two scores.
Sandburg finished at 323 as a team, four shots back of second-place Illinois Valley. Black Hawk took first place with a 312 total. Highland (338) and Sauk Valley (341) were fourth and fifth, respectively.
Sandburg’s Cooper Beck (Petersburg, Ill./PORTA) and Grant Otting (Taylor Ridge, Ill./Rockridge) each shot 85 to tie for 16th.
